Tears Get You Nothing
Nothing that anyone else can’t get just by walking up and asking anyway.
Turns out anyone can get $500 for the same computer. But when she rang up the new computer it came up $1899 instead of $1999, so I got an extra $100 – w00t!
Next step… upgrade to Leopard. Given my Apple noob streak I don’t have high hopes for that going without problems.

Bah! What’s the worst that could happen?
When you do the upgrade it is recommended that you “Archive & Upgrade” — it is going to take about 2 hours with the “media consistency check” before the upgrade starts. Just sit down with half a bottle of Bailey’s when you put in the DVD. (PS: Remember to “Software Update” after you upgrade..you want to get up to 10.5.2 immediately…10.5.0 has some weirdness.)
How much love did you lose for Apple thru this experience — are you still on track to someday know you will never live without a Mac again…or has your heart been broken one too many times now?
I hope she didn’t lose any love. Do you think Best Buy would give $500 back on a computer just because the new model came out the next week? Not in my experience.
Leopard should be fine…it is the 10.5.2 upgrade I would be nervous about. It semi-bricked my moms MBP, but the geniuses took care of her. Thanks goodness for AppleCare.
