15 Minutes of Fame and Why My Husband Rocks (Again)

Hubs arranged for us to go to see the The Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood improv show. Apparently he was one of the first to call because we were in the front row 2 seats from the center aisle.

If you’ve ever watched Whose Line Is It Anyway you’ll recognize the format of the show. They got suggestions from the audience and had people come up on stage to participate – be the subject of a rap song with back up dancers, played jeopardy, etc. The very last bit they did was sound effects:

Another game was Sound Effects where one performer (usually Colin) would non-verbally make movements and gestures while another performer (usually Ryan) would make sound effects into a microphone. The voicer would try to react to what Colin was doing and Colin would also have to react to any sudden noises the performer would make (like a fart noise, or noise from another unseen person watching him). Sometimes Colin and Ryan would perform in the scene together with two audience members making the sounds.

Hubs and I were picked to do the sound effects! Best game of the night imo. They were going hunting and there were things like shotguns and bazookas that needed sound effects – things hubs made great noises for and the audience loved him. I have no freaking idea what a helicopter sounds like and of course got made fun of by Brad and Colin. I was laughing so hard I was crying in parts. In the end, Brad made me belch for him 3 loooong times, the bastard. ;-)

After the show, hubs got tons of compliments from the staff and audience. He got lots of cheers from the crowd. I just laughed alot and gave them plenty of opportunity to deviate from the story with my awkward sounds. But going up there and interacting with the two of them gave me the impression that they are really nice guys. They smile at you and genuinely have a great time with the audience.

Can’t believe we had front row seats and got to participate in the best game of the night – was the best time out I’ve had ever!

Overheard in the Office – A Wet One

Said in a meeting today:

Person 1: You two will be having a salivic throwdown*
Person 2: He’s a nice guy but I’m not sure I want his tongue in my mouth.
Person 3: Sounds like a wet one!

*(he really said syllabic throwdown)

Swingtown, Baby

So CBS has a new show that started last week – Swingtown. You can guess what it’s about. As one coworker already put it, this is the hottest show in network TV. If you aren’t watching it, I’d ask you “what are you afraid of?” ;-)

Opening scene is funny. The swinging couple (The Deckers) is kind of cliché – he’s a pilot and a she was a stewardess – but they are both smoking hot so they can be whatever they want imo. The new couple to the neighborhood (The Millers) at first seem like newlyweds when in fact they already have two teenage kids! How does a couple married right out of high school with two kids still act like newlyweds? Were all people like this in the 70s? No, says the Miller’s previous neighbors. :-)

The Decker’s basement is where the real magic happens. I wonder if any of my neighbors have a basement like that?

Hot show. Watch it.
