Jury Duty

Sitting in the jury assembly room, my first time here. They say we are selected to provide a good sampling of the diversity in the community. I see 2.5 non-whites here – the .5 is for a guy I can’t tell if he’s just tan or what. The age ranges from one really young-looking guy, several women more my age and then tons of old people.

I apparently don’t live in a very diverse county.

$20/day compensation. Why bother? But other states don’t provide any so be grateful people!!!

WoW It’s Hot, Hot, HOT!

So I was playing WoW this weekend and the kid (he’s 5) was watching me, asking me questions here and there. After arguing about what character he wanted to be and settling on a female gnome mage that looks like Princess Leia I let him play for a bit. I helped him get started with the first quest and then let him play on his own. He managed to get to level 2 and figure out a few things:

• Red names are bad, they need to be killed even if they are 5 levels higher than you
• Green names are people you can talk to and they talk back
• Yellow names are friends but you can shoot them if you want
• Playing a mage is as simple as click, shoot, shoot, shoot, loot
• Minimap navigation and that running into trees makes you go sideways

Speaking of WoW, when I play for a few hours the computer gets very, very hot – too hot for it to sit in my lap while playing. What’s up with that?

Went to see Playhouse Disney at the Target Center. Got home just in time for the kid to throw up blue cotton candy on the bathroom rug. Sweeeeet. Thank god he recognized he wasn’t feeling well at the right moment or I would have had cotton candy vomit all over a 3-day old computer.

There was also something about little kids always playing with [name deleted to protect the little children]’s toys.

Then the fun discussion about Emily and her lesbian deli… believe it or not, no alcohol was involved. That’s how fun some people are.

I Am Getting Old

So hubs and I finally got a sitter this weekend and went and saw a movie – Cloverfield. Something about me: I love horror, I love to be scared, I can ride any ride in the park, I love that stuff. Well, I used to. 30 minutes into this movie I had to consciously control my stomach because of the camera work. All that moving around and up and down on a full stomach – ugh.

I’m not as young as I used to be. Of course, I haven’t seen an adult movie in the theater in like 103 years so maybe I’m just rusty.
